The Association of Mass Communication Students (AMCOMS) the University of Jos has inaugurated the 2017/2018 electoral committee (ELCOM).
The inauguration which took place at the AMCOMS staff Adviser’s office, Education Block 24 , Naraguta campus.
The seven-person committee was inaugurated prior to the forthcoming AMCOMS election, which is scheduled for 23rd November, 2018.
Speaking at the inaugural session, the AMCOMS staff Adviser, Mr. Raymond Goshit, disclosed that, “since the formation of AMCOMS, it has not experienced any problem of elections that was handled beyond the department”.
He urged the newly inaugurated ELCOM not to allow their personal interests supersede their official responsibility as ELCOM.
“Therefore, I don’t want you to campaign for anybody; you must be neutral. The department is neutral and will always continue to be neutral on your election matters”.
Administering the Oath, the AMCOMS President, Pam Thomas Jerry, charged the electoral committee to discharge their duties in accordance to the association’s constitution “without fear and favor”.
He also added that the committee should see their appointment as an opportunity to serve and also called them to give their very best.
The seven-person committee include; Enoch Tyulen as Chairperson and Miss Pwaspo Nanret Paul as secretary, bothe in 400 level. Other members include Tyoden Colian Joshua (200 level), Dawam Cletus Naanreom (300 level), Tashi Manasseh David (200 level), Edward Ringdang Paul and Bethel Olujobi (100 level).
In his acceptance speech, the chairperson of the electoral committee, Enoch Tyulen appreciated the AMCOMS executive committee for having confidence and trust in the committee. Tyulen, also added that the committee will do its very best to conduct a free, fair and credible election.
As part of the inauguration, working documents were handed over to the committee which officially signified the ELCOM’s powers to commence work as stated in the AMCOMS constitution.
