MUSIC DEPARTMENT HOSTS 2019 CHRISTMAS CAROL

The department of musicĀ  in the University of Jos hosted a seven lessons Christmas carol to mark the birth of Jesus Christ which was witnessed by staff and students of the University community on Friday, 15th November at the faculty unity hall.
The Carol commenced with an opening prayer then the national anthem and the UNIJOS anthem. It was anchored by Dr. Nancy King of theatre and film arts department. She said the event was not about the date but about the reason for the season.
The head of department music, Dr. Musa Makhu, in his welcoming address said that it’s the first time the music department is hosting a Christmas carol in November and the last time they held a carol was December 2017. He further explained that the Carol was set for 15th November because the department will be starting their practical exams on Monday 18th November 2019 and general exams on 25th November 2019.
The event had a lot of outstanding performances like singing of Christmas songs, hymns, and orchestra by all the students of the department of music.
They also performed a Naija version of the popular song “we wish you a Merry Christmas”.
The Christmas carol was brought to a close by Dr. E.I Amiyu as he gave the closing remarks thanking all the guests that honoured their invitation and assuring the audience that next year’s Christmas carol will be bigger and better.
