The students of the University of Jos who reside in the Village Hostel, kick-started her annual Village Week celebration on the 18th of November 2019, at the football field in the Village Hostel, witnessed by students were present to grace the occasion.

In an interview with the village hostel governor, in the person of Mr Dashe Domjul, he stress the fact that there was a need for student to engage in social activities alongside academic activities, for this will go a long way to impact not only the academic fitness of the students but also their physical fitness and help in discovering of potentials. He also highlighted some of the activities that will be done during the week such as; football competition between compounds, talent hunt, miss village fashion competition, cooking and eating competition among others.

Another respondent, a 400 level student of the department of special education, who happens to be the senator representing compound 13, Mr. Godiya John applauded the university for practicing an exclusive. system of education which according to him being a visually impaired student, will give equal opportunity to both the normal sighted student and the physically challenged students.

Asking on the participation of the physically challenged students in the hostel, the senator emphasizes the fact that there is ability in disability. And if the opportunity is given to the physically challenged such as village week celebration, the physically challenged persons or students will unfold their potentials.
